Last year before X'mas, I was stay over at my cousins' house in KL. So I was at downstair and I left my handphone upstair. Suddenly, my cousin was like 'omg I heard baby wtf?!' Well I totally forgot that was my phone. Then I was like 'MY PHONE'. You gotta see my cousin's face when she found out that was my phone ringing. LOL.

I'm not a Belieber butttttt I STILL dont get why people hate him so much. He's quite cute what. Not bad looking I'd say though he's kinda too young for me to say 'hot'.

I never think about how a real mistletoe looks like. I always thought
THIS  is it.

Until I googled it, only I know this is a real mistletoe, on tree.

Okay, so I was surfing on fb, well randomly looking at some pictures and I found one kinda interesting... thing. It's a maths question actually. It's simple but there are still some people would do the same mistake.


6÷2(2+1) = ?
(15 seconds for you to solve it)

Alright, what's your answer? Some say 1 some say 9.


As for some people, they do it this way.


Solution 1


6÷2(2+1) 
=  6÷2(3)
= 6÷6
= 1 




And some people, do it this way.


Solution 2


6÷2(2+1)
= 3(3)
= 9

Okay, for those who have the answer of 1, I'm sorry to tell you that You Are Wrong. The answer is 9.

People who go for Solution 1, I know what you gonna say. Bracket has to be solved first then only you can solve the question! Yes, you're right. We have to solve what's inside the bracket first then only we can solve the question.

You got what I said?

Okay. IF the calculation is given in this way.

6÷[2(2+1)] 


THEN the answer will be 1. 


6÷[2(2+1)]
= 6÷[2(3)]
= 1

Done.

I saw a kinda ridiculous comment below the picture. I didnt mean to tease about it or something but it's really... Sigh, all I can say is that person really just didnt pay attention while the teacher's teaching.

We all know combined operation, calculations involving two or more operations. That division and multiplication operations must be carried out first before addition and subtraction operations. And we all know how it works, right?

In mandarin, we say it this way - 先乘除后加减.

Means multiplication & division first, then addition & subtraction. (Translated word by word.)

That person do know about it, but only half of it. She thought the calculations have to carry out by following the sequence of how we say it, multiplication first, division, addition then only subtraction. (That's why she got the answer of 1. 6÷2(2+1)=6÷(4+2)=6÷6=1 )

Oh my oh. NOHHH!

My dear, it's just a saying to make us students easier to remember, like a spell. Not really matter the sequence of saying it! Multiplication & division are equal, so you have to solve the calculation from the left, first come first serve term. Division comes first then solve division first. Multiplication then multiplication first.

-_____- It's in the first chapter of Form 1's Maths! Gosh. Explain it like it's the hardest formula in the world.

Thus, the answer is 9.

*When I say I love Maths I really meant it. I love solving em! I wont say I'm the best doing it as I'm really not. But at least I got As in the exams, every time. As well as Add Maths. I cant really differentiate between a serval and a savannah. But look,
