I love Maths!

Okay, so I was surfing on fb, well randomly looking at some pictures and I found one kinda interesting... thing. It's a maths question actually. It's simple but there are still some people would do the same mistake.

6÷2(2+1) = ?
(15 seconds for you to solve it)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Alright, what's your answer? Some say 1 some say 9.

As for some people, they do it this way.

Solution 1

6÷2(2+1)
=  6÷2(3)
6÷6
= 1

And some people, do it this way.

Solution 2

6÷2(2+1)
= 3(3)
= 9

Okay, for those who have the answer of 1, I'm sorry to tell you that You Are Wrong. The answer is 9.

People who go for Solution 1, I know what you gonna say. Bracket has to be solved first then only you can solve the question! Yes, you're right. We have to solve what's inside the bracket first then only we can solve the question.

You got what I said?

Okay. IF the calculation is given in this way.

6÷[2(2+1)]

THEN the answer will be 1.

6÷[2(2+1)]
= 6÷[2(3)]
= 1

Done.

I saw a kinda ridiculous comment below the picture. I didnt mean to tease about it or something but it's really... Sigh, all I can say is that person really just didnt pay attention while the teacher's teaching.

We all know combined operation, calculations involving two or more operations. That division and multiplication operations must be carried out first before addition and subtraction operations. And we all know how it works, right?

In mandarin, we say it this way - 先乘除后加减.

Means multiplication & division first, then addition & subtraction. (Translated word by word.)

That person do know about it, but only half of it. She thought the calculations have to carry out by following the sequence of how we say it, multiplication first, division, addition then only subtraction. (That's why she got the answer of 1. 6÷2(2+1)=6÷(4+2)=6÷6=1 )

Oh my oh. NOHHH!

My dear, it's just a saying to make us students easier to remember, like a spell. Not really matter the sequence of saying it! Multiplication & division are equal, so you have to solve the calculation from the left, first come first serve term. Division comes first then solve division first. Multiplication then multiplication first.

-_____- It's in the first chapter of Form 1's Maths! Gosh. Explain it like it's the hardest formula in the world.

Sorry for the... grandma explanation. =/

Thus, the answer is 9.

Toodle!

*When I say I love Maths I really meant it. I love solving em! I wont say I'm the best doing it as I'm really not. But at least I got As in the exams, every time. As well as Add Maths. I'm really good in it! =D Still not the best though. Never be the smartest student, but an adorable one. LOLOL!!!

Take for granted

I used to think, it's perfectly alright to take your best friends for granted, because they are your best friends. With them, I can say everything in my mind, agree, disagree like or dislike. Even though sometimes when I said something mean, I take it for granted that they WILL understand, I WAS JOKING.

"How do you think about this dress?" Best friend asked.

"I dont know, I dont like it. It's perfect for you if you're 70."

Wait, it wasnt really mean.

Anyway, so aint best friends are someone you can say everything with? Just because you're my best friend I feel comfortable to say what I want. You dont expect me to burst everything out to an ordinary friend, right? Best friend knows when I'm being serious, when I'm telling a joke, I didnt ask for too much to think that way right?

There's a gang of best friends I've been mixing with since primary school. They give me good advises, they know my joke, they'll be here when I need helps with no string attached, they can fully accept the way I am - the REAL me. I really feel perfectly comfortable to be with them, sincerely. And I love them.

REAL me give REAL comments, speak REAL words which are happens to be offensive to those who dont know me or not closed with me. That's why I hard to get a real friend who understand me, and once I take you as my real friend, it's really hard for me to get closed with other people. I think I'm weird.

There's an incident happened months ago. Though it's been awhile, it still runs in my mind over and over again.  It's actually not a big deal but I just cant get through of it.

I said something... bad about my bestie's bf and she got mad at me. Like real mad. I SWEAR I WAS JUST KIDDING, I dont mean it and I really said it in a joking way. ...This is how it happened... We were in the car, I was holding her handphone, there came her bf's call, his grimaced face popped out and I said..........
.
.
.
.

'Yer why your bf so yong soi (ugly) wan?'
.
.
.
.
.
.

Was that too much? I dont know, if I was her I wont be so mad, in fact I'll say 'Yea I think so' and laugh together with her. Because I know she didnt meant it, and that was apparently a joke after all. I cant think for whatever reason she can be so mad at me about it.

She showed me the face after that. And when I asked her something she either keeps quiet or answer me rudely. Well I'm not a piece of wood, certainly I realized something is going wrong.

"Are you mad at me...?" I asked timidly.

"Everyone has their limit." She said sternly.

I know but I was so hurt! D= But I realized it was my fault to say that so I apologized. And she accepted it. Then we're good again. =D

However, what I feel hurt is... she cant take the way I am... I mean...I mean she should know I was just kidding! Right...? ...Or it's a no-no/taboo to talk about people's bf/gf even though that's your bestie? Is that really a forbidden?

Anyway, I'm not accusing her of not understanding my joke or whatever. But this incident made me think again, should or should not take your best friends for granted. I used to think it's perfectly alright to do that as they are your best friends. But now I'm confused. As what she said, everyone has their limits after all...

Maybe we just should not take anyone for granted except your parents?

I've been hesitating should I write it out, as that's really a big chance she will know I'm talking about her here and I really afraid it gonna affects our friendship, THAT is really what I DONT WANT it happens AT ALL. But it really stuck in my mind ever since. I'd feel better to say it out.

***Dear Love,

If you're reading this, for whatever reason PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont get mad (you know I'm really scared of that). =(

I love you! You know I really do! For now, for tomorrow, forever!

Omg the story behind a fairytale

I'm pretty sure most of the kids or teens around my age know the Japanese manga artist, Hayao Miyazaki (宫崎 骏). He written and directed a lot of popular anime feature films such as

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, 1984 film (风之谷)
Castle in the Sky, 1986 film (天空之城)
Kiki's Delivery Service, 1989 film (魔女宅急变)
Princess Mononoke, 1997 film (幽灵公主)
Spirited Away, 2001 film (千与千寻的神隐)  -favorite!
The Cat Returns, 2002 film (猫的报恩)  -favorite!
Howl's Moving Castle, 2004 film (哈尔的移动之城)  -favorite!
Ponyo, 2008 film
...
okay and so on. And another one of my favorite is My Neighbor Totoro, 1988 film (龙猫). Until now, whenever I see the poles it will still reminds me of the Catbus running on the wire. xD

My Neighbor Totoro is mainly talking about two sisters, Satsuki and Mei, their story after moving into an old house in rural Japan to be closer tot he hospital where their mother is recovering from an unnamed, long tern illness.
One day, while Mei is playing outside, she saw two white rabbit-like ears in the grass. She follows the ears who then lead her through a briar patch and into the hollow of a large Camphor tree. She meets and befriends a large version of the same kind of spirit, which identified themselves by a series of roars that she interprets as "Totoro". Her father ater tells her that this is the "keeper of the forest".
Satsuki finds out that the planned visit by their mother has to be postponed because of a setback in her treatment. She tells Mei about it but you know, kids are all the same. Mei cannot accept it and starts to cry (that's why I hate kids -.-). Frustrated and frightened, Satsuki yells at Mei and stomps away. Mei believing that her mother can be cured by healthy food, sets off on foot to the hospital with an ear of corn.
Her disappearance prompts Satsuki and neighbors to search for her; eventually, Satsuki returns in desperation to the Camphor tree and pleads for Totoro's help. The Catbus carries her to Mei and then whisks her and Satsuki over the countryside to see their mother in the hospital.  They perch in a tree outside, overhearing the conversation between their parents and discovering that she has been kept in hospital by a minor cold and is otherwise doing well.

So basically the whole story is like kinda warm and with a happy ending. And of course I love this anime. It's like one of the best anime ever made! If you love it like I do, what I'm gonna say are so gonna ruin your Totoro in your heart!

Do you know there's a running theory about this fairy tale? The theory is that Totoro is actually the god of death, the Catbus is actually a tool of bringing the spirits away, and Mei is actually dead while the villagers found one side of her shoe in the pond, she is drowned.

Okay I found an article about it from a website, HERE, in mandarin btw.

It says the story after realizing Mei's shoe in the pond, the sisters have no shadow after all. Well. 'cause of these creepy stuff, I decided to watch it again and I watched. I found it true that the sisters really dont have shadow after that, but the problem is, I also realized.... everyone got no shadow after that. -.- I think Miyazaki was just forgot or lazy to draw their shadows.

I did some research. Some people believe in it, some people dont.
It's deliberate. In the movie they make clear that only kids can see Totoro, because they are innocent. When kids see the movie, they believe in a happy ending because they are innocent. We find a darker meaning because we are adults. We no longer "see" Totoro. The movie effectively show us we have lost our innocence. It's completely masterful.
Some people do, however, believe that this film incorporates death.

  1. The mother has tuberculosis, which is considerably fatal even under the best care, so the family moving to the country is mostly for the mother to die in a peaceful place.
  2. The children do not understand death, so their process in coping with their mother's absence is met through the spirits they encounter, such as the makuro-kurosuke and Totoro (both of whom are said to gather where death is near, such as in old, crumbling houses, or those who are touched by death). They are spirits, after all - where else would they come from but the spirit world?
  3. The Cat-Bus could be seen as a ferry to the spirit world, as it travels invisibly in the wind.
  4. The color palettes do change for Satsuki and Mei once they reunite, becoming paler and ghost-like.
  5. Once they do reunite, they go to see their mother, but only their mother notices them as she is touched by death. The film ends with them riding away together in the Cat-Bus (the end credit imagery could be seen as memories of their lives, or all of them reuniting in the spirit world).
  6. Kanta, the neighbor boy, is never shown experiencing the spirits, even though the Grandmother says that only children can see these spirits.
  7. When Satsuki enter the Cat-Bus looking for Mei, one of the destination options on the bus's display-board is written as "Grave" "Road", hinting that Mei drowned.

In my opinion, I think 7th is kinda convincing. =S 'Cause I realized that too. Ghibli

This blog explains it well, (MUST READ if you're really find it interesting)

They believe the real story comes from the history of the Sayama incident (狭山事件 sayama jiken). There seem to be too many coincidences between the Sayama incident and this anime to ignore.
The Sayama incident occured in May 1963. It's quite an important case for discrimination in Japan. The case goes that one day, in Sayama (in Saitama prefecture), a young girl was kidnapped for ransom, raped and then murdered. Her older sister apparently found her body, but was so traumatized by it, when asked what she had seen, she merely said "I met a large Tanuki (looks like a racoon)" and "I saw a cat monster." Sound familiar? Anyway, the older sister later commited suicide.

This picture really freaks me out. Look at the words written on the box at the back is 狭山茶 sayamacha or Sayama tea. Creepy or not?!?

And the Sayama incident took place in May, the sisters' names in the anime are Satsuki (May in Japanese) and Mei (May in English). Besides, the (real incident's) sisters were in fact from a single-parent family (mother died of illness).

Everything I read from the link above is like totally omfg. And now I found this anime is really "chim".

Anyway, however, I find it very interesting to know though it was really kinda creepy. It is still nice to have another way to interpret my favorite anime in my childhood. And it'll still be my cutest Totoro! Pardon me for the picture below. LOL!

No matter how many times I see it, this picture always freaks me out. Dang.

[Updates]
Haha, so the Sayama incident turns out another story. I mean they are totally irrelevant.

HERE's the real story of the Sayama incident.

Have fun reading!

You know what I hate the most? I think I blogged about it before. I hate when I call someone, when I text someone, and  for whatever reason that person didnt reply. Okay I understand that not everyone is as free as me, I understand that people might be busy or yea that's not a right time to pick up my call or reply my text. But cant you call me back when you free? Cant you reply me when you free??

And okay! I also understand people are busy and they might forgot that someone called/texted them, that's why they didnt reply anything. Trust me, I thoroughly understand it. But you know what, it is also clearly show one fact that I am not important enough to let you remember I was looking for you. Or maybe, you just dont wanna talk to me, 'cause you dont even take me as your friend.

It maybe doesnt seem like a big deal, but I dont know why I just cant stand it. I can understand people cant reply me immediately but I cant understand why they cant reply me later when they are free. It irritates me every single time.

For example, some guys get mad when people touch their hair when I think it IS NOT a big deal at all. Or some girls they cant take it when people criticize on their taste of choices when I think it IS NOT a big deal too 'cause I know everyone got different taste. It's like a ......err landmine, nothing happen if you didnt step  on it. But if you stepped on it, you die. Okay wont die, something's gonna happen however.

Whereas I cant blame it 'cause I know I'm in the wrong as well. I dont reply people's message sometimes and I am also purposely dont pick up people's call sometimes. Because I dont want to talk to them. So it's the same lah, when you're doing something mean, people can do the same to you as well. =/

I'm such a selfish brat, I cant take it but at the same time I'm doing it to others.

Dang, done whining. Gotta go take a bath and sleep. Toodle!

Gimme some of their height!

I've been a shorty for my whole life. Well no, I used to be the tallest amongst my cousins and now I'm the shortest one, AND I'm the eldest. How sad! Someone tell me why my height stuck when I was ...17? Who took my height away!?

Owh wait, MUST BE MY GRANDMA'S GENE! She was even shorter than me! And the chubby gene must be inherited from her as well. All the bad genes came to me... why?! At least I inherited the good skin. Nvm lah. =/

So, some people are just too tall as a woman and some are too short. I hate to be short sometimes, or I should say most of the time especially I walk in the crowd. I dont know why, I think tall is cool. xD I mean not really tall like a giant lah. I want to be at least 165cm which is like 5'4" height. =D

Look at these celebrities! I wish each they can give me 1cm of they height. ONLY ONE CENTIMETER! Then I can reach my ideal height and I'll be the happiest person ever.

How to write a Resume!?

Ok I told everyone I'm gonna find a job after CNY and it already after CNY, people keeeeeeeeep on asking me what I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do when you gonna start working blah blah blah.

During CNY, all the elders, friends, friends' friends, friends' friends' friends... they first thing they say to me after I wish them Happy CNY, they ask, 'what are you doing now? Study?' Nope. 'Then working? What you work as?' Nnnnope, I'm not working either. Then lesson starts.

Cannot wannn! Girls must have their own income! Dont rely on guys! Boh lang ai! This and that. I know I know I know...

I'm so gonna sure they'll never give up asking me that until I get a job. I know I know they are just concern about me.

Geez! I'm finding! Fucking stop asking me! Fine, I still THINKING what to do. Hahaha!

So yesterday, I decided to make the first step! Find some vacancies online! See whether there's anything I can do. And then I realized,

I . Dont . Know . How . To . Write . A . Resume

Google it! Google solves everything!

What?? I never worked before mah! Photo shooting and modeling dont need a resume. =( I bet most of you dont know how to write also! Like Patrick! He doesnt know too!

First off,
resume is a selective record of your background — your educational, military, and work experience, your certifications, abilities, and so on. You send it, sometimes accompanied by an application letter, to potential employers when you are seeking job interviews.
The focus of the resume assignment is readability, effective design, and adaptation to audience expectations.

To know more about it?

You dont know how to write a resume too??

You need this. Go HERE! Detailed! And you're welcome. Hahaha!

Also, I noticed there's one thing I dont understand what's that mean in the application, I think it appears in almost all applications.

Notice period.

Google again! In case you got the same problem like me, Due to my angelic personality, I'd like to share it with you! =D

So what is a notice period?

A notice period is the amount of time an employee has to give from the time he decides to quit until he actually stops working. In this context, since it is on your job application, the company is asking how much notice you need to give your current employer before you actually stop your current job. In other words, they want to know when you'd be free to start. It sounds like you are not currently working, so the answer would be "I am available immediately."

In an easier word, it is the time that you are required to give the company before quiting.

I think I'm gonna put 4 weeks as a month goes by very fast, which means that I will give the company 4 weeks notice upon quiting!

And now I know how to write a resume! xD

"I didnt edit my pictures!" Hana hana very pretty la.

I sometimes wonder a common thing on fb, why some girls they can create an album and designate it those photos are uneditted. WHO CARES? Who cares if you editted you photos or not?

I mean, people will know it from your photos whether you eddited it or not. I think pictures of 'no makeup' will be more lookable loh.

Kindly have a look at this photo I found accidentally on my news feed. I wonder why her picture appears on my news feed 'cause she's not even on my friendlist.

P/s: Nah, I dont hate her, I dont even know who's that. I'm talking about 'uneditted photos'. If you know her, kindly pass my apologize to her, 'cause I just picked her randomly.

......Hmmmmmm.

I only can see her eyes. Or I should say I can barely see her face.

The main thing to edit is the face and she already covered 3/4 of it.

Then what's the POINT of saying it 'uneditted'??! Got things to edit meh like that?!

And I dont know whether she spells it in purpose or not, she cant even spell 'edit' correctly.

She captioned 'Ugly loh' under the picture but honestly, I cant tell whether it's ugly or not. Well at least you got a pair of big eyes. I think you wont be so ugly. But I'm amazed by the pouches under your left eye. It's almost the same size with your eyes. Did you editted it?!  *Oops

By the way, I thinkkkkkkk.. when girls captioned their pictures (which are actually not that bad) in a demean way, they intended to get something in opposite like compliments from other people to build up their confidence or just to get some satisfactions from the praises haha.

Like saying 'Omg I'm so ugly!' on a picture like

THIS

(I got the same comic!) (She didnt say that la. She said ugly only.)

I think it's obvious enough that you want more people praise you pretty instead.

'Cause you wont upload a picture if you REALLY think it's ugly. I wont, at least. Lol.

But I think I do the same thing also. Owh wait, did I?

I think I praise my own self more than saying myself ugly or what. Haha! People might think I'm just an attention seeker or a faker who try to get more attentions. =( Like I wanna say I want smaller boobs, some people might think I'm just showing off but they dont know! I really wish to have smaller boobs! They dont know the suffering of having a boobs size like mine in my height! I look short and fat! But indeed, I'm short and fat also lah. -.-

Back to the topic, I wont say myself ugly unless I'm really fugly in the picture.
.
.
.
Ok, I just went through all my photos and I found I really never say myself ugly. Haha!! Not all photos la, only the album only me. And I really just praise myself like I like my hair 'cause I really do! And I'll haughtily flaunt my zero-makeup picture with a big caption 'No makeup' and two exclamatory marks at the back. xD

I think I'm kinda narcissistic. =X

Owh wait, HAHAHA this

I captioned fish face. I sincerely think this is kind of scary...

Ew I'm so 'zi lian' and that's quite disturbing. -___-
.
.
.
I end up talking about my narcissism. Wth.
